Cross-language Program Slicing in the .NET Framework

چکیده
ABSTRACT Dynamic program slicing methods are very attractive for debugging because many statements can be ignored in the process of localizing a bug. Although language interoperability is a key concept in modern development platforms, current slicing techniques are still restricted to a single language. In this paper a cross-language dynamic program slicing technique is introduced for the .NET environment. The method is utilizing the CLR Debugging Services API, hence it can be applied to large multi-language applications.

A Unified Framework for Partial Evaluation and Program Slicing
The emphasis on code re-usability in component-based software development has resulted in degradation of system performance. Component specialization techniques have been proposed to overcome this problem. They mainly specialize components wrt contents of component interfaces. This requires specialization to be performed in either a forward or backward direction. The current state of the art ap...

Program slicing is a program analysis and transformation technique that has been successfully applied in a wide range of applications including program comprehension, debugging, maintenance, testing, and verification. However, there are only a few full-featured implementations of program slicing that are available for industrial applications or academic research. In particular, very little tool...

Systems of computers and their application in the lives of modern human beings are vastly expanding. In any kind of computer application, failure in computer systems can lead to a range of financial and mortal losses. Indeed, the major origin of software failure can be located in designing or implementing software. With regard to these statistics, 30% of the software projects have been prospero...
متن کاملProving Information Flow Noninterference by Reusing a Machine-Checked Correctness Proof for Slicing
We present a machine-checked correctness proof for information flow noninterference based on interprocedural slicing. It reuses a correctness proof of the context-sensitive interprocedural slicing algorithm of Horwitz, Reps, and Binkley. The underlying slicing framework is modular in the programming language used; by instantiating this framework the correctness proofs hold for the respective la...
متن کاملFormalizing a Framework for Dynamic Slicing of Program Dependence Graphs in Isabelle/HOL
Slicing is a widely-used technique with applications in e.g. compiler technology and software security. Thus verification of algorithms in these areas is often based on the correctness of slicing, which should ideally be proven independent of concrete programming languages and with the help of well-known verifying techniques such as proof assistants. As a first step in this direction, this cont...
